Devon
is the second largest county in England, offering an amazing variety
of scenery between its two very different coastlines. Devon has a tradition
for high quality local products from Ruby Red Devon beef to prize-winning
wines. Busy market towns thrive across its length and breadth with
Farmers Markets offering local produces at regular weekly venues. North
Devon is full of contrast from some of the most stunning coastlines
with seemingly endless stretches of sandy beaches to the wilds of remote
Exmoor and the traditional rolling hills of Tarka Country. Throughout
the year these diverse landscapes change and adapt to the seasons.
The climate in the South West is the mildest in Britain, bringing
the early arrival of snowdrops, primroses and wild daffodils in the
Spring, hedgerows of fuchsias in the Summer and turning the landscape
a rich golden russet in the Autumn. Ancient geology and the remains
of forgotten industry and history is all around North Devon and Exmoor
and not always in ruins.
